Whac-A-Mole
Editorial Review
The classic carnival game of Whac-a-mole comes right into your house in this energetic and highly silly home version. The inherent cruelty of this game is tempered considerably by how much fun the moles appear to be having while receiving repeated blows to the head with big plastic mallets. It must help that each mole gets to wear a helmet, each a different color. One to four players can join in by whacking the critter in front of them during the "sign in" period at the beginning of the game. The object of the game, naturally, is to whack the moles as they pop up and players can choose to have them light up or not. Parents should be aware of course that they are giving big plastic mallets to very young children and the result will almost certainly be that one kid whacks another before too long. It’s just bound to happen. But if those energies can be re-directed toward the moles, this is a fun and silly way to play inside. --Charlie Williams
Product Description
The classic arcade game can now be played at home! Grab a mallet and pick a mole. When he lights up and makes his special sound, whack him on the head to score points. The winner will whack their way to the highest score. You can play with up to 4 players at once, or play a solo game where you try to whack 4 moles at once. Whew - what a workout! Game comes with Whac-A-Mole game unit, 4 Mallets, and Game Instructions. For 1 4 Players, Ages 4 and Up.

5 of 5 stars  Definitely a winner!

My daughter received this for her 3rd birthday and it has been her favorite toy since then. She loves to imitate the sounds and whac the moles. The solo or easy game is just right for her age. I'd definitely recommend it.

5 of 5 stars  Didn't want to get it...but...

I was not excited about getting this toy, but after an hour of begging and pleading (from my HUSBAND), I was finally talked into it. We got it, took it out of the box, and OH MY GOD, it's a blast! My 4 year old has no problem concentrating on it and whacking the moles when they light up. He loves the sounds they make and even my 1 year old tries to play! She grabs the mallet and starts whacking...not necessarily the moles either LOL. The game is a blast! If you want a game everyone can play and enjoy, this is it!

1 of 5 stars  It suddenly stopped working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tuesday, March 22, 2005
I'm puzzled as to why some reviewers have not had this problem, while others have had the identical problem as we have. This was a Christmas gift. My children are 2 1/2 and 3 1/2, and we had a great time playing it together. They loved this toy and were so exited to tell everyone that they got this for Christmas.

The very next day, it needed new batteries. I changed them.

2 days later--new batteries.

A few days later--solo and easy levels would not play. Only the "hard" level plays. And now, that's wasting away. Barely audible, crackling sounds. It sounds like an electrical short or something, I don't know. We are so dissappointed, and my 3 year old keeps asking to play his Whac-a-mole, and I have to remind him it doesn't work.

We didn't drop this, didn't get it wet, play was always supervised, I always turned the toy off when not in play. Still, it sounds like it was dropped in a swimming pool.

It's a gamble that I would not suggest taking.

5 of 5 stars  Fun for the whole family
Sunday, March 20, 2005
We love to have family game night...the only problem is the kids ages (2 & 5) and finding a game that we can all play together. This game is good for everyone. It's not the most educational game, but in my opinion it does help concentration and listening skills. We have more educational games but we can't all do them together. The other one we like is a kerplunk game that looks like a bee hive. We are pretty tough on this game too and have had no technical problems. It's durable.

4 of 5 stars  Great toy for aggressive days
Friday, March 11, 2005
My girls love this game and I love it on the days when it's too cold to go outside and they are a bit on edge. They can get outr their aggression. . .so to speak. . .and have fun playing the game. If my kids were more aggressive and hit each other, then it wouldn't be a good fit for our family. They are such good kids, so it's not an issue.
