5 of 5 stars  Wow

I had been lookin for some good soulfull instrumental guitar music for some time. I had found several good ones but Neal Schon is at the top of the list with his long soulfilled sweeps
that puts him at the top. It is increadable to hear over and over.

5 of 5 stars  Perfect CD, a MUST for ANY Record Collection

Not only are the all of the tracks excellent, but they are also set up in such a way that they flow into each other perfectly. For these reasns, this is one of the very few CD's that I play all the way through without using the random program setting.

However, even with all of the good tracks, there are a few standouts. These are "Softly" (my personal favorite), "I'll Cover You" (gritty melodic rock), and "Smoke of the Revolution" (interesting music and lyrics, in a good way).

5 of 5 stars  One of the best musical journeys of all time!!!!

I discovered this tape in 1994 when I was 18 at a really cool music store called Dr. Disc.....it was $4. I'd heard of Journey, and thought they were a good solid band. Looking back, I felt something tell me "buy it!!!"..I looked at the cover and the song titles and was quite curious...so I bought it, took it home, put it in the tapedeck, put the headphones on, pressed play and holy moly...A masterpiece beyond all my expectations...lush melodies, well developed song structures, lyrics that are thoughtful...Neal isn't my favourite vocalist, but somehow his voice matched the music perfectly..This brings tears to my eyes of my high school memories, as a few months later, I was on a school bus trip and a girl I didn't know sat beside me. I had this tape and a walkman with me, and let her listen to it...so thanks Neal, for the wonderful music that helped me win her over...this will work magic on the ladies...so play it in your car when you're out with her...this is by far better than anything Journey's ever done (Raised on Radio is quite excellent though, but this is MUCH deeper and relaxing). It's a shame this didn't sell well, as far as I know. Anyway it's in my top 5 favourite releases, buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Neal has never been a singer, but im my opion he is the best guitarist, in the world, bar none. One would expect an instrumental cd from Neal, and that is what I was hoping for with this cd, but it's not what I got. I was very pleased. Neal plays the guitar with a firery passion, that would take a great vocalist to match him, and not to be overshadowed by him. Neal for the most part Neal's vocals are overshadowed, but not consumed by his playing. And for some reason this only adds to the music.
Late Nite and Softly are the outstanding tracks on this cd, and the rest are not far behind. The music feels heart felt and not by the numbers, like some of Journey's later songs.
