A good little potTuesday, May 10, 2005
This is a nice little pot! Made in China, but well made. I've done the usual heat soup and make sauce and it works just fine. I've even used it for Basmati rice, although it was a little tricky the first couple of times on my electric stove. The cover is heavy, so you'll need to keep an eye on things until you get use to the way things cook in this pot, to keep things from boiling over.
Easy clean up with regular dishwashing soap and a little Barkeeper's Friend to remove the stains that seem to stick to stainless steel.
All in all, a good little pot that I've found to be very useful for small tasks.

I have begun to build a collection of this line (plus Anolon Advanced). All the Chef's Classic pans are heavy weight and cook like a dream. The first time I washed this pan, I noticed some bluish staining. I sent Cuisinart an email, hoping they could help out. Imagine my surprise when a factory representative called me yesterday with instructions on how to remove the stain! Thank you,
Cuisinart!

Like the Chef's Classic set I'd bought from Cuisinart through amazon.com, this is a BEAUTIFULLY made piece of cookware with a snug-fitting lid. The bottom is thicker than the walls. It's so beautiful out of the box you hate to use it! But when you get around to breaking it in, you'll find that the heat transfer is fast and EVEN. The snug-fitting lid is a genuine delight, after a lifetime of using crappy cookware I realize what I've been missing. If you love to cook, this saucepan will put a BIG smile on your face! Some of the best money I've ever spent.

So, I'm a poor graduate student and can pretty much afford nothing, including nice cookware. When I bought this saucepan for just a few bucks, I expected the sort of crap I've been cooking in my entire life. But, oh my, was I in for a surprise!
I've never touched "professional cookware" before, but this saucepan is definitely it. Fairly heavy, for starters, feels like a nice piece of equipment in your hand. The handle is very impressive - secured on with bolts, not glue, shaped nicely, fairly long, and remains fairly cool during cooking. Same with the handle on the lid. The bottom of the pan is specially processed for even heat distribution, and when the pan arrives, it will be the shiniest piece of cookware in your kitchen.
This pan is pretty small, so I would recommend it for the following uses: making oatmeal or cream of wheat for one, making one of those "pasta with sauce from a box" for one, boiling 1/2 lb of vegetables, boiling a few eggs, heating pasta sauce, etc.
Overall, this pot seems to me to be of highest quality and I think it will last me a really long time.
