not a horror filmMonday, April 25, 2005
this movie is not a horror movie. at least not anything mainstream(its real low budget) or that is gonna make u jump. it has a pretty cool idea and was actually decently made i thought, but i would not wanna watch it again cuz it was basically pretty boring. seeing the serial killers life and how "normal" it was was good. alternating from his family to work to his murders was good and thinkin that this could b a real guy that u could kno and b close to is a lil creepy. overall, boring movie with no good gore scenes

JUST WATCH IT!Monday, April 04, 2005
I find it very interesting that all the reviews here have a pattern to them (please read them all, it's worth it!) in that all the reviewers that really didn't like this movie, on the whole, come across as very juvenile. Read the reviews, it's fascinating! They're either: 1) people who cannot string a coherent sentence together, 2) people who only watch horror movies for "gore" or the "kills".....yawn! 3) people who have been brainwashed by formula and, no doubt, MTV culture! 4) people who, in their daily lives, are probably under the misapprehension that others really care what they think! 5) people who just don't get the joke, or 6) are all of the above. I'm not saying anything about this film other than JUST WATCH IT! and if you open up your ears the brain cells might start to work. If you don't believe me - read the difference in the reviews of the people who did really like this movie.

NOT HORROR AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Saturday, April 02, 2005
Let me start by saying that, all in all, this is a very good movie. However it pissed me off so much because I wanted to see a horror movie not something that was going to make me think. This movie was marketed deceptively. It was made to seem as if you would be watching FACEZ OF DEATH or something similar. Instead you get a movie that challenges your perception of morality and forces you to evaluate BLAH BLAH BLAH. Who cares I wanted to see gore. What ever happened to mindless gore, like Friday the 13th.
Yea this movie is good but IT CERTAINLY ISN'T HORROR at all. There was TOO MUCH time spent on this guy's boring life. The death scenes are laughable. Although I will say kudos on the fire scene that really creeped me out.
If you are looking for gruesome death scenes ( like you are led to believe there are) stay away. If you want to see something different, then pick it up.

This movie is absolutely horrible. The main character is so boring that I didnt even finish the whole thing. I just couldnt stand anymore of this idiot talking to the camera. There are no decent kills, which is the only thing that could have saved it. I had read lots of good reviews for this thing, but i was very disapointed. I suggest renting this before buying.

Intelligent horror with a real shocker endingWednesday, March 30, 2005
Those looking to be titilated by gore, exploitation and sensationalism best avoid this intelligent character study masquerading as a horror movie, because it's likely to tick you off .
Either that, or serial killer Max Parry is using our morbid fascination in violence and death to establish a common ground and prove that he is not the complete monster we immediately judge him to be.
In fact, he could be the guy next door.
He could even be me or YOU.
This is the smartest movie I have seen in a long, long while.
Probably too smart for a mainstream audience, hence some of the negative reviews on this site.
But if you count yourself amongst the more discerning viewers and are looking for brain food, then you will not dissappointed.
