I have purchased both Awakened Mind System discs (original and 2.0) and both are amazing. They have taken my meditations to a whole new level. They are also great for power napping or doing creative work. I feel that the Awakened Mind System discs are better than many of Thompson's other discs for two reasons. First, AMS uses combinations of all brainwave frequencies (beta, alpha, theta, delta) which makes you feel both relaxed and energized, peaceful and creative, dreamy and focused, all at once. This makes AMS useful for many different activities. Second, they are outstanding for meditation because the music is purely ambient and abstract. Many of Thompson's other discs, including the Theta Meditation System, use some ambience interspersed with repetitive melodies which can be quite distracting while meditating. If you're looking for music to deepen your meditation, enhance your mental functioning, or even help you sleep, try the Awakened Mind System.

This cd makes me feel as though someone stuck their finger in my brain and stirred it around. I can't pinpoint what exactly feels different, but I find myself thinking about turning it on all the time. My boyfriend says it helps his ability to concentrate. We've both been sleeping tremendously better. I didn't understand all those other reviews saying it cures 'the blahs' til now. It really perks me up on a break at work. It's easier to stay grounded. I can't wait to try the others!

The human brain and the consciousness that it contains is the last frontier. Those who are willing to explore it are a new kind of pioneer. This CD allows listeners to actually change their brainwaves, thus affecting the consciousness that the brainwaves convey.

The first track, which lasts for thirty minutes, is very pleasantly meditative. The listener will hear nature sounds, a gong, ambient sounds, and the like. This tends to move one into a relaxed and meditative state. The second track, also thirty minutes long, sounds like a rainstorm, with other sounds mixed in. Very soon one moves from relaxation into incredible visualization. I generally visualize nature scenes, but that varies from person to person, I suspect.

I believe that this CD helps me relax more, sleep better, and deal with the problems of living better. If I listen to this several nights in a row, I can come up with solutions to problems more easily and I deal with life in a more relaxed state. I also feel that it makes me more sensitive to the feelings of others. This is an unusual experience. It is amazing that a little CD can do something so profound. But, there it is. :)

If you were to do decades of research on EEG patterns of yogis, swamis, and healers, understand those patterns, you might find common patterns for people engaged in creating, problem solving, learning, healing, memorizing and meditating.

People in that state of consciousness are using a specific combination of beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta brainwave patterns.

If you were to use entrainment to create sound pulses and music to recreate those exact same EEG patterns in normal individuals, a feeling of lucid awareness, you might create something worthwile.

I do find this CD very mentally stimulating, creating all sorts of mental imagery and very relaxing. This is definitely one of my favorite CD's. I also use some of Jeffrey's other CD's for very specific purposes.

This is my first Dr. Thompson adventure but after the lifting experience it gave me I am going to have to try his other CD's. It help to aleviate my doldrums and I felt much better after the first time using it. Highly reccommended for all us 9-5'ers.
