Interesting...Thursday, February 24, 2005
This is definitely an enjoyable album, Stephen Lynch is hilarious. It is, however not recommended for the stereotypical American who is worried about hearing a nearly obscene amount of sexual humor. I, personally, thought that Lynch's sense of humor was unique and interesting. You have to hear it at least once.

A singing CD, not traditional stand up comedySunday, November 28, 2004
I bought this based on the Amazon "recommendation." Well that turned out to be a bust. Although Stephen Lynch is funny, this is not a normal stand up comedy CD. This CD is purely singing & guitar playing. Lesson to be learned here: take the Amazon "recommendations" with a grain of salt. Just because you like comedy, they'll recommend all kinds of comedy-related BS.

Nice guy, naughty tunes...Thursday, October 14, 2004
If you like your musical humor with a dark twist, Stephen Lynch will become an immediate favorite. Both of his albums make you want to play them for people who've never heard of Stephen, just so you can watch their faces as they realize what they are listening to.
"A Little Bit Special" is a studio album, and it gives you an opportunity to enjoy clever lyrics that would make morticians cringe, as well as the vocals of a talented musician with amazing control of his voice. The kicker is that the Stephen you encounter after a live performance is as nice a guy as you could hope to meet. No diva-ness. Just a guy trying to make a living who sincerely appreciates his fans.
My favorite tracks:
"Lullaby": It was probably a good idea to make this the 1st track. The intro showcases Stephen's beautiful voice, but by the end of the 1st chorus, you'll realize what kind of ride you're in for.
"Gerbil": My 1st experience with Stephen was hearing this song on radio. I fell in love immediately, but you don't want to test the waters with this one. It's not one of his tamer songs.
"Hair": It's only 11 seconds long, but guaranteed to give you shivers.
"HermAphrodite": Hysterical paean to the battle of the sexes, especially when the battle's raging inside one person. (Listen for Stephen's amazing control at the end of this song.)
Wait for a bonus track at the end of the album.
"Superhero", his 2nd album, was recorded live. A few repeats from "ALBS", but the audience reaction makes it a different experience.
My favorites:
"Superhero": an interactive laughfest that demonstrates Stephen's ability to improvise, as the audience suggests superhero names you'll never see in the Justice League.
"Grandfather": Who knew evil could be so funny?
"Special Olympics": (the hidden bonus track) If you're going to Hell, this is the song that will be playing on the bus.
I highly recommend both of Stephen's albums, as well as his "Live at the El Rey" DVD, all of which are available here on amazon.com.

We love comedy in our house and to rate this as the BEST comedian we have ever heard is an honor. Not recommended for the easily offended. I recommend Stephen Lynch for large doses of laughter. You will find yourself singing his songs in the most inappropriate places. If he's on tour in your city....go see him. He's stupendous in concert.

Pure GeniousTuesday, June 15, 2004
When you hear this man's name, it is reminiscent of such masterful artists as Leonardo Davinci, MichaelAngelo, The Beatles. He is not only a masterful musician, but a top notch role model for the kids. I will leave you with a quote from his utterly scrumptulescent masterpiece entititled "gay".
"but if i were gay i would give you my heart
and if i were gay you'd be my work of art
and if i were gay we would swim in romance
but im not gay, so, get your hands out of my pants."
His music is so real to me, I can taste it, and believe me it tastes delicious. What a wonderful man, nay this is no man, he is one of gods infallible creations.
