Worst Calphalon potTuesday, February 08, 2005
It's a worst piece of Calphalon Commercial line I have owned. The pan has good size (only 10" foot print) but very thin. Like the other reviewer, the first time I have boiled a large piece of chicken breast in the pan,the interior surface at the bottom seemed to wear away leaving irregular, shiny permanent stain marks. I don't cook acidic food at all. I wish I can return this pot.

good value for the moneyThursday, January 27, 2005
I've had this pan for about a month, and I like it. It's a good value for the money--though I would never pay the full list price. I've made an oven beef stew, bolognese sauce, and other yummy dishes without any problem. I even use it to boil pasta. I needed a good size pan I could use for searing meat, and then adding add'l ingredients and finishing off in the oven. This definitely meets my needs. It's not a heavy-gauge pan, as other reviewers have pointed out, but I think their expectations might have been a bit high considering the price. Generally speaking, you get what you pay for, though this is a good return on investment.

A disappointmentTuesday, January 04, 2005
I have a number of Calphalon H-A pieces. Some are high-end, others are from the lower priced lines. While I've always noticed the difference in quality in the lower priced pieces, I've considered that to be a trade-off for the reduced price. This dutch oven is a disappointment even by the lower standard. As other reviewers have mentioned, the pan is extremely thin. Worse, the first time I cooked in the pan the interior surface seemed to wear away leaving irregular, shiny marks. Other discounted pieces (especially the 12" everyday pan) hold up well over time, but this one seems to be a dud.
As a side note, Calphalon is willing to examine any pan to determine if a replacement is warranted, but after shipping costs it's hardly worth the effort to send it in.

Great CookMonday, December 20, 2004
I just recieved this Chef's Casserole...
I LOVE IT.
Tonight I made a French Pot Roast,it was great. Its the perfect size, and I don't know what all the fuss is about the thinness of this Pot?
I have all Calphalon commercial cookware (mostly nonstick), and personally I don't see the differents till some people said something here! And I still don't know what your talking about?
I bought one for My Daughter also..
At $29.95 you would have to be a fool to pass this one up.
I have the 8 1/2 qt. Sausier, which is very good, but very big, this is a much better size for me.
When you need a pot of this size to deglaze with, good size for a flat bottom, then put it into the oven,it cooks even, this is great.
I have used the big 8 1/2 sausier for pot roasts, and I can not tell any differents between the two of them. The food i cook in the 8 1/2qt doesn't cook or taste any different.
The lid on this one is not flat like the 8 1/2qt one is..This makes it so there was lots of juice's and more head room inside so to speak...
I can't find any type of problem with this Pot!
enjoy -o)..

Very usefulThursday, December 09, 2004
Like previous reviewers, I was also surprised by the light weight and thinness of this pot. I own several other pieces of Calphalon cookware, and this one is by far the least sturdy feeling of them all. However, it performs very well - heats evenly and quickly, cleans easily, and has a small footprint for such a large capacity. It stains easily, but who cares? I definitely recommend this item - it's a great bang for the buck!
