Product Description
The Polar Express
Description
One couldn't select a more delightful and exciting premise for a children's book than the tale of a young boy lying awake on Christmas Eve only to have Santa Claus sweep by and take him on a trip with other children to the North Pole. And one couldn't ask for a more talented artist and writer to tell the story than Chris Van Allsburg. Allsburg, a sculptor who entered the genre nonchalantly when he created a children's book as a diversion from his sculpting, won the 1986 Caldecott Medal for this book, one of several award winners he's produced. The Polar Express rings with vitality and wonder.
Book Description
A magical train ride on Christmas Eve takes a boy to the North Pole to receive a special gift from Santa.

5 of 5 stars  AN AWESOME READING ADVENTURE ...
Monday, May 16, 2005
I generally think that books are better than the movies that follow them, and this book is fantastic, but with the marvelous graphics film-makers use nowadays, the movie was mind-boggling in its beauty and sheer magic!
What a ride!!! This author is sheer magic, too!

5 of 5 stars  Christmas books with meaning!
Friday, March 04, 2005
Too many Christmas books just throw reindeer and presents and Santa and chimneys into a big pot, blend them together, and voila! another Christmas story. --- The nice thing about Polar Express is that it takes "BELIEF" and expands the word into the memorable ringing of a bell.

Eloquently expressing a concept is what makes Christmas stories memorable. Others like this would include "A Christmas Memory" by Truman Capote ("BONDING") as well as "The Blacksmith's Gift" by Dan T. Davis ("PURPOSE")

You can read "The Polar Express" at Christmas of course, but books like these are great anytime of the year.

5 of 5 stars  School Book Review

Did you ever listen for Santas bells? I read a book where someone went on a train and a mountain and the train was called The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg. The two
biggest people that believe in Santa! I think the author wants you to know that it is always good to believe. Read this book to see if his sister can hear the bell.
