DeLonghi BCO70 Caffe Nabucco Espresso, Cappuccino, and Coffee Bar
|
 |
Description
Both a regular coffeemaker and espresso machine, this 1,500-watt appliance has separate water tanks for simultaneously brewing drip coffee and espresso. The espresso machine side has a milk frother for creating cappuccinos and lattes. Separate knobs select the strength of both regular coffee and espresso. Making espresso follows tradition: tamp coffee into a filter basket inside a filter holder, twist the filter holder onto the machine, pour water into the machine's boiler, and press a button. Depending on the amount of water, up to four 2-ounce cups then flow into an 8-ounce glass carafe. Making regular coffee also follows tradition: put a filter in the filter basket, spoon in coffee, add water to the coffeemaker's removable tank, and press a button. Up to ten 5-ounce cups of coffee then flow into a 50-ounce glass carafe on a warming plate. (For five and fewer cups, the brewing process can be sped up to provide full flavor.) The brewing process pauses if the carafe is removed from the warming plate for a mid-brew pour. Encased in both bright and matte-finish black plastic, the machine measures 16 inches wide, 13-1/2 inches high, and 9 inches deep and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Run Away!!!Thursday, April 21, 2005
Run don't walk away from any product that Delonghi makes. Their replacment process is a joke and just will leave a bad taste in your mouth. Replacement models are conviently never in stock forcing you to wait months and months and months....Do yourself a favour and buy another machine. You'll thank me latter

I have the previous model, 3 1/2 years now. The coffee maker is just fine, but that is not why I bought it. I have had to order parts for the steamer twice and as it happens the second time i have yet to be able to. They have been out of stock and after a year of trying I have given up. SInce and for about 4 months now the steamer has not worked well at all. I bouoght this machine for more than just plain cup of coffee and now I must resort to other methods to get my cappuccino.
When the machine worked it worked well, but once it started to have problems I have not been able to get any help.
I am looking to buy a new machine, but you can trust that DeLoghi will not be the brand.

Worst Coffee Machine EverFriday, September 17, 2004
I bought this coffee/espresso maker to replace an old Mr.Coffee machine I had. I must say that over the few months that I've had it, I've regretted wasting 99 dollars. For starters, it is ridiculously slow at brewing compared to brands like Mr. Coffee. Second, mine is always leaking near the filter container. When it is finished brewing, I have water all over my counter. Lastly, the plastic feels cheaper than Mr. Coffee brands, despite being vastly more expensive. I've used the espresso maker a few times, but I hardly use it because I don't like strong flavor of espresso. This machine has an accuflavor dial for varying coffee intensity, but it seems more gimmicky than practical. I've used it with the strong flavor selected and my coffee tastes the same as before. Time to go back to Mr. Coffee.

Worst product ever bought for the $$Monday, September 13, 2004
The first one leaked from the basket and bottom of machine in 6 wks. I exchanged it at the retail store I bought it from. The second one lasted 8 mos and it now leaks (more than the first one ever did) and despite never using abrasives to clean it, the teflon coating on the warming element is flaking off in chunks. I called DeLonghi Canada and got a run around re repair until I DEMANDED to talk to the President! Got a General Manager of Customer Service who explained that this product is a mid line product and not without it's faults. He finally agreed to send me another one (same model unfortunately) free of charge. Will see how long it lasts. Don't have much hope for it to last over a year! If I had read some of the reviews about the quality of the machine, I wouldn't have bought one. My understanding from the GM of CS at DeLonghi Canada is that it is the bottom end of combo units so therefore has issues and other items which cost more $$ don't have these inherent problems.
My advice if you haven't already bought this unit is don't!! Either spend more $$ and buy their top of the line unit or don't bother with a combo unit unless you are prepared to go through 3 in less than a year and only if you get pushy with the company!!
