Phenomenal ToasterSaturday, March 26, 2005
This toaster oen is phenomenal at its intended task, which is making toast obviously. It heats up instantly, which saves a ton of time, and is thoughtfully designed. It is also more boxy than wide, thus saving counter space. After the poorly engineered and extremely slow heating black and decker I had before, this has been a revalation. I can toast something in 2 minutes instead of 4-5 minutes in the Black and Decker. In the morning or for a late night snack, that;s a big big difference.

Best toaster I've ever hadMonday, December 13, 2004
I'm not a "toaster-fanatic" or claim to be an expert on toasters, however, I do toast breads a lot and heat up frozen appetizers, etc. and this toaster is easily the best one I've ever had.
I was considering purchasing the Toastmaster Lightwave because I was looking for a sleek, nice looking unit (and this one had no picture on Amazon'd site) but when I saw the Lightwave in person, I was very disappointed! It looked completely plasticky and the glass door/hinge looked flimsy. Having owned Toastmaster before, that was consistent with my image of their products. So I ordered this Panasonic blindly because of other reviews I've heard and was not disappointed.
This thing looks great and blends in nicely with all my new stainless appliances. I actually LIKE putting this out on the countertop! And it has performance to match. Makes toast a lot faster and more consistently than my old Toastmaster. Heater frozen breads and snacks in half the time it used to take. And clean up is much easier than my older unit where you practically had to lift the toaster up to clean the crumb tray. In this one, you simply slide out the crumb tray which is accessible from the front (lifting and performing circus tricks optional!).
In short, this is exactly what I wanted: a stylish toaster oven that cooks better and faster than any other I've tried.

Great expectations, average cookingSunday, October 17, 2004
I decided to buy this after reading the numerous rave reviews on the other Panasonic Infrared Toaster oven, NB-G100P, which is the same as this model, only not silver in color.
I can't say this is a killer toaster oven. It is a moderate improvement over my old $25 Black & Decker, but have not found it to be superlative.
Certainly, there are nice things about this toaster oven. NO PREHEATING. I love that. Just stick your food in and punch a button. Indeed, another nifty feature is a timer, where you simply set the timer and temp and it starts up, turning off at the correct time.
However, the real purpose of a toaster oven is to cook food, and that's where this one does not out-perform other cheaper models. While many folks have commented that the oven cooks things more evenly, I disagree. There is a hot-spot running down the middle of the oven where the IR element runs, leaving food burned in spots, uncooked in others.
So, while I'd give this product an above average rating, it's not a killer cooker. If I had to do it over again, I think I'd try one of the convection toaster ovens.
