Least Dated of the SeriousThursday, October 14, 2004
This is easily the least dated of all the 6 Howling films. V and VI also aren't very dated, though they are a couple of disturbing films, with VI beaing a freakshow and on the level of Todd Browning's Freaks. Nothing is dated. They are all modern. The most campy of the series is II- 80s new wave written all over it. Then the next campy is III- PG13 rated and regular 80s cheese. At the lower end of the campiness is the widely acclaimed masterpiece first Howling film- 80s redneck. The Howling films became a mess of campiness. Now looking back on them, this only heightened the entertainment value today. A writer goes to a retreat, only to be haunted and hunted by werewolves. This looks like it could've been made today. This is easily the least cheesey of the Howling films. Maybe one day I will write a script for a seventh Howling.

The best part of the movie was when you get to see the shopkeep naked . Otherwise dont buy this film unless your collecting the Howling series .

Howling IV: The Not So Original NightmareSunday, August 08, 2004
This is living proof that crap needs a million dollar budget. This movie was bland. It had no style, no original elements, and overall, nothing good about it. Well, I take that back, the main character's husband had the best mullet. But other than that, nada. Unlike the original Howling, which had awesome and unique looking werewolves, this one the werewolves are, well, wolves. No make up required. They turned into the average, everyday wolf. Didn't put a whole lot a work into that did they? This movie was a B-movie, but didn't have a lot of the GOOD B-movie elements.
What I learned from Howling 4: Howling 3 is way better as a B-movie.
If you liked this movie, I recomend: Banging your head against a brick wall, because for as much pain as your going to go through watching this movie, you might as well inflict it on yourself.

Howling IV:Original NightmareFriday, June 04, 2004
Howling IV - The Original Nightmare is a pretty good movie. It is almost like a remake of the original some people say, but I really don't see that big of a resemblence.I really don't know why everyone hates The Howling series. They are the few werewolf films out there; you've got to enjoy them. The acting is standard horror movie acting. The dialogue and actions of the characters are sort of predictable, but I was shocked during some of the scenes. The werewolfs probably look the best they have in the whole series so far.The werewolf transformations were so cool. Some of the characters were likeable while there were some you just wanted to get killed. The plot is pretty smart; it's hard to believe that people hate it so much.Make sure to check this one out in your own time.A beautiful mystery writer is plagued by sinister visions, and a country vacation is prescribed. But when the great outdoors beckons with an erie howling sound, the novelist begins to unearth more than her fertile mind could ever imagine...... hideous werewolfs, gruesome murders, ancient evils, and strange rituals. One of the most successful horror sagas returns in the most horrific "Howling" ever!(6/10)
