4 of 5 stars  Yukmouth - Thug Lord: The New Testament
Thursday, February 10, 2005
In 2001 Yukmouth released his 2nd solo album, "Thug Lord: The New Testament".

1. Old Testament (Intro) (Featuring Mac Minister)

2. Thug Lord - Good beat, Yuk comes raw as ever, hook is alright - 3.5/5

3. Oh Boy! - Nice beat, Yuk spits real fast, good hook - 4/5

4. Clap Yo Hands - This song has a good beat but is by far the worst song I've ever heard from him - 1/5

5. Hi Maintenance (Featuring Lil' Mo) - Alright beat, Lil' Mo and Yuk come nice, Mo comes nice on the hook - 4/5

6. Puffin Lah - Good beat, Yuk tears it up talkin about weed, hook is good - 4/5

7. We Gone Ride (Featuring The Outlawz) - Good beat, the lawz and Yuk rip it to shreds, good hook - 4.5/5

8. Thug Money (Featuring Kool G Rap) - Nice beat, Yuk and Kool G Rap make a good collaboration, really diggin the hook - 5/5

9. Do It Right (Featuring C-B0 & Phats Bossilini) - Alright beat, Yuk, C-Bo, and Phats all come hard, hook is nice - 4.5/5

10. World's Most Hated - Good beat, Yuk comes with some nice lyrics, good hook...probably the best track off the album - 5/5

11. So Ignorant (Featuring Kurupt, Nate Dogg, & Kokane) - Good beat, everyone comes nice, Kokane does a good hook - 4.5/5

12. Ooh! Ooh! - Nice beat, Yuk comes real nice over the beat but the hook really really sucks haha - 3.5/5

13. Regime Killers 2001 (Featuring Mad Max, Phats Bossilini, Tech N9ne, Poppa L.Q., & Gobernor Matic) - Real nice beat, Everyone shines, hook is great...definite banger - 5/5

14. Smile (Featuring C-Bo & C.J. Mac) - Good beat, Yuk, Bo, and C.J. all rip it, hook is nice - 4.5/5

15. New Testament (Outro) - Good beat but Yuk just raps too slow for him to keep my attention, there is no hook - 3.5/5

Overall: 56.5/70

4 Stars

Yuk brings the heat on almost all of the tracks on this album. It could have been a little better but its definitely an album you shouldn't sleep on. Support the bay and pick this ish up.

5 of 5 stars  4.5 star second solo LP - Yuk's best
Wednesday, December 01, 2004
Yukmouth is back after a two year break to bring his 2nd solo LP and by far his best to date. It starts off a little weak but once you get to track 5 it never stops (except for one song). Half the songs feature other rappers. Production is done by a few people (Mike Dean - 6 songs: Mr. Lee - 3 songs, and LT Hutton & P Killer trackz contribute a song each as well as a few others) and they do a good job. Has about 3 ok songs and 2 I skip, but also a few classic joints and a bunch of great songs. A definite must have album for hardcore rap fans.

#2 - 7
#3 - 7
#4 - 6
#5 - 8 (f/ Lil Mo - about high maintenace hoes)
#6 - 8 (f/ Benjilino - about smokin weed - relaxing beat)
#7 - 9.5 (gangsta $h!+ -- f/ Hussein Fatal, Young Noble, Edi Amin, & Napoleon of the Outlawz)
#8 - 9 (f/ Kool G Rap - tight beat)
#9 - 9 (f/ C-Bo & Phats Bossalini)
#10 - 10 (classic song about being the world's most hated -- tight beat)
#11 - 8.5 (f/ Kurupt, Nate Dogg & kokane)
#12 - 5 (worst song on here)
#13 - 10 (classic gangsta song -- f/ Phats Bossilini, Tech N9ne, Mad Max, Governor Matic, Poppa LQ -- tight beat -- Yuk disses Master P on it)
#14 - 10 (another classic more deeper song --- f/ C-Bo & CJ Mac -- a tight beat too)
#15 - 7 (Yuk goes for over 4 minutes straight at a slow pace -- not a good beat though)

J. Ellis -- Oakland, CA -- b. around 1975

LET ME START BY SAYING THAT YUKMOUTH IS ONE OF THE TOP 3 BAY AREA RAPPERS TO EVER KOME OUT. THIS KD IS NOT AS TIGHT AS HIS FIRST DOUBLE ALBUM, BUT STILL DEFINATELY HAS THE SLAPS. #3 O-BOY IS A BAY AREA KLASSIK. THA LAST SLAP ON THIS ALBUM IS THE TIGHTEST YAY AREA SONG TO EVER DROP!!! YUK SPITZ 5 MINUTES STRAIGHT WITHOUT A HOOK ABOUT HIS LIFE IN THA O (OAKLAND FOR U SQUAREZ). THAT KUT ALONE IS WORTH BUYING THIS ALBUM. YUK IS RAW AND KLOWNS THA HELL OUT OF MASTER P ON THIS KD, WHO STOLE THE SONG ICECREAM MAN. YUK WROTE THAT SONG IN JAIL AND WAS THA ORIGINATOR OF THE SAYING "ICE CREAM MAN". SUPPORT YOUR BOY, BUY THIS KD NOW!!!! R.I.P. MAC DRE -1

Siccmade! My first Yukmouth album, and it won't be my last! I was honestly surprised. I never really thought Yuk could hold his own out the Luniz, but this album is better than any Luniz album. Yuk got that gritty attitude which makes you think the dude thank he a God, and can't spit, but he really gets deep in this album.

Some songs that go over the struggle can be compared to Pac's. If Yuk continues to make albums like this, he could easily be one of my favorite rappers. Cop it, trust me.

I heard of Yukmouth through Techn9ne. I bought this album at a flea market brand new for $4.00, and i thought what the heck. I opened it and as soon as the tracks hit my ear, i knew it was good. This album is very good. Some of my favorite songs are: Puffin Lah, World's Most Hated, So Ignorant, Regime Killers 2001, and Smile. This album is excellent and I hope Yukmouth can get his name out on the market.
